Willie Lawrence Rogers, Jr. passed away on Monday August 28 at Midland Hospice House. He was 91, being born on August 14, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Willie L. Rogers and Elva Rogers Stevenson. He was a member of the Osage Nation and a graduate of Sperry, Oklahoma High School in 1944. He joined the Army in 1944 and served through 1946 as a Staff Sergeant with the 43rd Infantry Division in the Phillippines and during the occupation of Japan.
He was employed by American Airlines at the Tulsa Maintenance Base for 36 years and was a member of Transport Worker Union Local 514.
Willie married Louise Brown in 1947 and they had celebrated 70 years of marriage on Jan 10, 2017. She survives as does his son, Donald (wife Judy), a granddaughter (Kristina), 2 step-grandchildren (Twila Howard and Kenn Howard), plus 3 half-sisters (Mary Lee Evans, Gay Brady and Billie Sue Stafford).
Family services and burial will be held later at Floral Haven cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
