William J. Reser

September 14, 1938 — February 3, 2021

William J. Reser (Bill), 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, where he was surrounded by family.

Bill was born September 14, 1938, in Silver Lake, Kansas to Christine (Stich) Reser and Melvin Benjamin (Ben) Reser.  He moved to Topeka, Kansas after his marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) May Meats, September 26, 1958, in LeRoy, Kansas.  Bill and Betty shared a wonderful 62 years of marriage together.

Bill worked over 27 years at E.I. DuPont until his health forced him to retire in 1985.  After retirement he enjoyed his hobby of working with computers.  Bill bought parts and put computers together, like most people work on puzzles.  He could add software, repair, and do most anything on a computer.

Bill loved time with his family.  He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He never let you leave after a visit, without a big hug.  He shared so much with each of his kids, and he was a favorite to call to just talk about life in general.  He wished so much happiness for each one and will be greatly missed.

Bill was a member of Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, Topeka, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Reser, two daughters, Dee Anna (Reser) Myers (Tony), Donna Sue (Reser) Van Dyke (Nelson), both of Topeka, Kansas. Three grandchildren, Jennifer Gillaspy (Tracey), Andrew Wessel (August), and Hannah Wessel. Two step grandchildren, Sean Van Dyke and Britton Myers, and three great grandchildren, Ali, Walker, and Takara.  A brother Richard M. Reser (Dale Anne) of Topeka, Kansas, also survives.

Services will be held in the summer when his grandson, Andrew, returns from deployment in the Air Force.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite charitable organization.
