William Joseph “Billy Joe” Meredith

William Joseph "Billy Joe" Meredith, 63 of Topeka, Ks passed away of Covid complications September 22, 2020 at University of Ks, St. Francis Hospital, Topeka.

He was known for BJ's Towing.  He had an independent towing service for 25 years.

BJ was born December 6, 1956 to Charles Edward and Gertrude Elizabeth Cunningham Meredith, Topeka, Ks.

He attended Highland Park High School.  BJ had a love for racing of all types.  If he wasn't a participant, he was at the track providing towing service.  The tracks he attended were Mid-America Fair Grounds and Woodgate Speedway, both in Topeka. Also, Topeka Raceway, Tecumseh, Ks and Thunder Hill Speedway, Mayetta, Ks.

After giving up the towing business, his last place of employment was LKQ Topeka as a shipping clerk.  Because of health issues, he became unable to work as of 2003.

Since December 2018, he was a resident at Rolling Hills Health and Rehab, Topeka, Ks.

BJ was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wayne Meredith, Charles Meredith Jr. and a sister Dolores Meredith Winters.

Survivors include a brother James Meredith (Betty) Topeka, Ks; sons Shawn Meredith, Topeka and Matthew Meredith, Salina, Ks.  Also, three grandsons and a host of nephews and nieces.

Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
