William Bloxham Dean, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully in Topeka, Kansas, on August 21, 2023. Born on March 25, 1945, in Chanute, Kansas, Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
Bill was the son of the late Lyle and Helen Dean. He grew up in Chanute, Kansas, surrounded by his three sisters, Neysa Blair, Helen Phelps, and Donna Anderson. Early in life, Bill demonstrated a commitment to his education, attending college before being drafted into the Army.
Upon his return from service, Bill embarked on a career as a food equipment technician with Hobart, where he dedicated 42 years of his life. His hard work and dedication were evident in his long tenure, and he was highly respected by his colleagues. Bill's work was more than a job; it was an integral part of who he was.
Bill was a man of many interests, and he lived his life to the fullest. Known as a formidable Busch league pool player, his competitive spirit was always on display, whether on the pool table or during his many fishing trips. His love for travel was infectious. Bill, alongside his beloved family, embarked on numerous road trips, visiting Canada, Mexico, and approximately 40 states across the U.S. These journeys created a wealth of cherished memories and stories that his family will fondly remember and retell for years to come.
His love for the outdoors was unparalleled. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating, regularly making trips to the Gulf of Mexico for deep-sea fishing. These activities were not just hobbies for Bill; they were a way of life, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for nature.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of many years, Judy Dean. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with mutual respect, shared adventures, and enduring love. Together, they raised their daughter, Julie, who, with her husband Larry Beeson, gave Bill two granddaughters, Ciera and Nevada. The joy of his life was further multiplied with the arrival of his three great-granddaughters.
Bill's family, friends, and all who knew him will remember his adventurous spirit, his love for his family, and his dedication to his work. His enduring legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him, and his life will continue to be celebrated with stories of road trips, fishing expeditions, and pool victories.
William Bloxham Dean leaves behind a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, and achievement. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to living each day to its fullest, cherishing every moment, and always embracing the next adventure.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, September 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Grace Farm, 2748 SE 29th, Topeka. Come when you can, leave when you like. Potluck dinner, meats, baked potato and some sides provided along with water.
