Bill and his parents lived in Germany for a period of time throughout his formative years, but he returned to Kansas for his senior year of high school and graduated from Leavenworth High in 1961. He went on to attend Kansas and Kansas State University as an ROTC student with an emphasis in wildlife management. He then began his career in sales and service to the Manhattan community. During his 20-year career in the car business, Bill worked at Allingham VW Dealership, managed Flint Hills Toyota, and assisted many in starting their own careers. He once sold a Cadillac to Johnny Cash! From there, he transitioned to a career in real estate, becoming an agent and broker for Coldwell Banker in Manhattan. Bill found great joy in helping people find their forever homes, forming lifelong friendships with many clients and colleagues.
As a dedicated friend of Bill W's for 39 years, a half lifetime journey, he was a pillar of strength for the recovery community. A sponsor to many and a friend to all, Bill was a selfless advocate for anyone in need. This dedication to the Manhattan community is reflected in his time spent on the board of directors for the Salvation Army.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for being on the water. He was an avid fisherman, with many trophies and memories celebrating his time as a member of Muskies Inc., Pomme De Terre chapter and was a record holder in Canada!
Bill touched so many lives with his kind and generous nature. His family will remember and cherish him for his big heart, warmth, and unwavering support. He kept us laughing, and inspired us to see the best in ourselves and others.
