William L. "Bill" Beatty, of Carbondale, passed away at his home, Saturday May 13, 2017. Bill was born in Topeka on January 7, 1947 to William J. and Wilma A. Beatty both of whom proceed him in death as well as one sister Judy L. Combs and his brother David J. Beatty.
Bill is survived by his wife Gaylene (Bartlett) Beatty and their children Tracie O'Brate (Martin), Sean Shore (Kristin), Penny Cook and Jason Shore and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Juanita Parker (Bill) and Edna Beatty and their children.
Bill attended Topeka High School. He was in the United State Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, serving part of that time in Vietnam. After returning home he worked for Butter Krust Bakery and the City of Topeka Water Department before going on to drive trucks both over the road and for local construction companies in Topeka. Bill is a member of The American Legion Post 1 and the American Legion Riders.
A celebration of life will be Monday May 22, 2017 at The American Legion Capitol Post 1 located at 3800 SE Michigan Avenue, Topeka, Kansas, beginning at 6:00 p.m with a memorial for Bill at 6:30.
