Walter Dean Cabbage, known affectionately as Dean to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 84, in his hometown of Topeka, Kansas.
He was born on May 12, 1941, in Topeka, the son of Walter Gifford and Lucille (Dawdy) Cabbage.
Dean's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of a well-lived life.
Dean was a husband to his late spouse, Donna Humphrey Cabbage, and a father to his daughters, the late Rebecca Hall and surviving daughters Teri Godsey and Deborah Wilkerson. His legacy continues through his daughters, Teri and Deborah and his cherished grandson Dusty Godsey.
Professionally, Dean was a respected painter, known for his meticulous work in both commercial and residential projects. His steady hand and keen eye for detail left a lasting impression on the many homes and businesses he helped beautify throughout his career.
Beyond his professional life, Dean was a proud Friend of Bill, having joined the fellowship on August 19, 1993. His commitment to sobriety was unwavering, and he became a beacon of hope and support for many who sought a similar path. Dean's life was indeed rich with love, laughter, and meaningful relationships. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us in the days to come.
