Veronica Louisa Peknik Kincaid, known affectionately by friends and family as Ronni, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on November 17, 1951, in Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, Ronni's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, wisdom, and love. Her final days were spent surrounded by family at the Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas, where she concluded a life well-lived and loved.
Ronni's journey began as a bright light in Kansas City, where she grew up and later graduated from Washington High School in 1969. She carried that light throughout her life, touching all who knew her with her warm presence and generous spirit. Ronni's commitment to family was evident in every facet of her life, including her cherished partnership with her loving husband, David Kincaid. The couple's 55-year marriage was a testament to their enduring love and mutual support.
Ronni's legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted family: her husband David, her daughter Theresa Rickman, her son Andrew Kincaid, her sister Victoria Western, as well as her 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Each of them was a source of immense joy and pride for Ronni, and she cherished every moment spent in their company.
In her professional life, Ronni was a dedicated homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her household when she entered the workforce in foodservice. With her characteristic commitment and skill, she rose to become a manager of the cafeteria, eventually bringing her talents to her alma mater, Washington High School. Her work was not just a job, but another avenue through which she could care for and serve others.
Ronni's interests were as rich and varied as her life. She was an avid reader, a gifted seamstress, and a culinary enthusiast, known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills. Her passion for camping and watching movies brought her much joy and relaxation. Above all, Ronni loved to gather her family around the kitchen, making food together as a way of expressing her love and keeping everyone connected. Her home was often filled with the delightful aromas of her cooking and the sounds of laughter from her loved ones.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she relished every opportunity to be with them. Ronni's wisdom and kindness left an indelible mark on their hearts, guiding them through life's challenges and celebrations.
