Thomas “Tom” Mitchell Shepherd

Thomas "Tom" Mitchell Shepherd, age 53 of Topeka passed away on July 10, 2015. He was born June 29, 1962 in Sidney, Ohio to William "Bill" Raymond Shepherd, Sr. and Marilyn Kay (Sams) Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law Gary Taylor.

He is survived by his mother (Topeka); daughter Megan Shepherd (Texas); two sons: Kyle Shepherd (Hawaii) and Thomas "Tommy" Mitchell Shepherd II (Topeka); sister Nina Taylor (Topeka); three brothers: William "Billy" Raymond Shepherd, Jr. (Topeka) – wife Michelle, Anthony "Tony" Walter Shepherd (Topeka) - wife Leisa, and Michael "Mike" David Shepherd (Delia) - wife Tamie; two granddaughters: Sara and Jazmine (Texas); one grandson, Silas (Topeka); and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Tom was a caretaker for his mother for many years. He enjoyed fixing things for others, tinkering with electronics, and cooking. He babysat and was a house sitter on many occasions for friends and family. In recent years, he enjoyed connecting with friends and family on Facebook. He will be remembered for his caring heart and infectious laugh.

Tom was cremated and was an organ donor. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, August 2nd from 11am to 3pm at the Garfield Shelter House, 1600 NE Quincy St. A light meal will be served. Tom's family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
