Thomas grew up in Salina, where he attended local schools...He dedicated his professional life to serving the community of Topeka, working diligently for the city.

Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julia Cantwell-Richardson. The love and laughter they shared continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to witness their bond. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Mary Richardson; his loving son and daughter-in-law, James and Amanda Richardson; and his adored granddaughters, Emily, Bella, Madison, and Chasity Simpson, who each held a special place in his heart.

Thomas's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and humor. He had the rare ability to uplift others with just a few words, and his selflessness was apparent in every aspect of his life.
