The Rev. Canon Frank N. Cohoon passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Cecil C. and Estelle (Boatman) Cohoon. Frank graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in Religion, and from The General Theological Seminary with a graduate degree in Divinity. After Graduation, Frank was Ordained as an Episcopal Priest in the Diocese of Oklahoma. He served as Vicar of Christ Memorial Church, El Reno, Oklahoma; as Rector of St. Christopher's Church, Midwest City, Oklahoma; as Rector of The Church of The Covenant, Junction City, Kansas; as Rector of St. David's Episcopal Church, Topeka, Kansas; as consultant in Canon Law in the Diocese of Western Mexico, Guadalajara; as Archdeacon for Missions in the Dioceses of Kansas; and as Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Kansas; and was also named Rector Emeritus of St. David's Episcopal Church, in Topeka, Kansas. Frank also served for ten years in the United States Army Reserves as a Chaplain, and attained the rank of Major.

Frank was married to Eloise Whybark in Oklahoma City, on July 6, 1949; she preceded him in death in 1991. He is survived by 3 children: Leslie (Amy) Cohoon of Franklin, Tennessee; Brian (Syvilla) Cohoon of Topeka, Kansas; and Cathy (Kermit) Wolford of Aurora, Ohio; by 4 grandchildren, Whitney, Austin, Deanna, and Todd; and by 1 great-granddaughter, Addison. He was married to Mary (Harlow) Curry on March 1, 1992; she preceded him in death in 2015. He is survived by 4 step-children, Lisa (Steve) Wilde, George T. (Harriett) Curry, Peggy (Tom) Zerger, and Mike (Anita) Curry, and by 6 step-grandchildren, Kathryn, Scott, Sam, John, Stephanie, and Spencer.

In addition to his dedication to the church and his parishioners, Frank enjoyed a number of hobbies when time allowed. He had a longstanding love of classical music and opera, and tuned in frequently to public radio. He enjoyed travelling, as well, especially to Santa Fe, NM, for the annual Market Festival in August, and to southeastern Colorado for family vacations and trout fishing. He also visited the Colquhoun Clan headquarters in Luss, Scotland, and enjoyed the wearing of the Tartan and the sound of Bagpipers.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 SW 17th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Interment will be at St. David's Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. David's Episcopal Church, or the Alzheimer's Association, 3625 SW 29th St., Ste. 102, Topeka, KS 66614.
