Stuart (Stu) Craig Horn, 61, of Topeka, Ks passed away November 7th, 2018. He was born in Topeka on April 17, 1957 to Leona June Strickland Horn and Billy Dean Horn.
Stu is survived by daughter Shawna Horn (James Newman IV), grandson James Newman V , granddaughters Marlie and Kayla; brother Greg Horn (Melissa), sisters Connie Brunton (Bryce) and Cindy Horn (Paul Sodamann); niece Jessica Barry(John) and great niece Alex; nephews Jared Brunton (Wendy) and great niece Harper, Tyler Horn (Ema) and Trevor Horn.
He is now joined with his loving parents who preceded him in death. Stu grew up in Topeka. As a young adult he took to the road on his Harley and ended up in California where he lived for the next 16 years. Many years as a truck driver enabled him to see lots of the country and find all the good diners. He started his family in California and returned to Kansas in 1994.
Fishing was a favorite activity of his and he spent much time in the sloughs of San Francisco Bay area trying to hook those big sturgeon. Stu loved being in nature and hunting and just driving around with his daughter on country roads looking for deer when she was younger. Recently, watching his grandson race at Heartland BMX was a highlight that he always looked forward to attending.
He was a unique soul who had special insights, very strong opinions and not governed by convention.
His daughter and grandchildren were the loves of his life and family was number one priority. He will be missed and remembered by many.
A remembrance gathering for family and friends will be held on November 21stat Lake Shawnee Shelter #3 from 11am til 2pm.
