Steven Ray Davis, 40, of Auburn, KS, passed away March 14, 2014. He was born February 24, 1974, the son of Cecelia and Gary Davis in Peoria, IL. Steven was married to Jeanette Peters on May 17, 1997. They were married for approximately four years.
Steven is survived by his son, Alexander Davis, Topeka; his parents, Stephen and Cecelia Duffy, Auburn; siblings: Stacie Davis, Auburn; Scott (Jessica) Davis, Topeka; Cathy (Ron) Cotty, West Peoria, IL; nieces and nephews: Quintin, Isabella, Dylan, Carter, Zabrina, and Easton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
As youth in Peoria and East Peoria he enjoyed a variety of sports including basketball, baseball, football, and skateboarding. He attended East Peoria High School and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka. He served in the Army Reserves. Steven also attended Kaw Area Technical School and Washburn University. He was employed by Walmart for several years as an assembler for retail merchandise. Steven enjoyed listening to a variety of music from Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, and the Beatles to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He loved talking about a wide variety of subjects from philosophy, sports, computers, and history. His most recent sports enjoyment included playing pickup hockey and he enjoyed watching his son play sports. Steven was very proud of his son's Junior ROTC accomplishments at Topeka West High School.
A visit with the family will be Thursday March 20, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at St. David's Episcopal Church. Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 10am at St. David's Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a Steven Davis Memorial Fund for his son Alexander at Educational Credit Union in Topeka, KS.
