Steven L. Cowen 50, born in Topeka Ks to Ralph and Hilda Cowen passed 10-12-14 in Lawrence Ks. Steve Graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1982, Emporia State University in 1987 and received his Masters in Social Work from Washburn University. Steve was married in July of 1987 To Angela Fasse. Steve and Angie have two daughters Chloe who attends Emporia State University and Maya of Topeka KS. Steve spent his career serving his clients at Burt Nash, The Housing Authority and the VA in Lawrence and Topeka.
Steve is preceded in death by his Father Ralph.
Steve is survived by his mother Hilda of Rural Linwood, His former wife Angie of Rural Burlingame, daughters Chloe and Maya, sister Cindy and her husband Ron of Rural Linwood and brother Scott of Boise Idaho.
Steve enjoyed fishing, racquetball, bicycling and was a second degree Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do. He had an appreciation for music and had a varied and eclectic collection.
Steve was a tireless advocate for the poor, homeless and the disenfranchised. His many friends and associates are invited to join the family and attend an honoring of life at the Lawrence Visitors Center/Union Pacific Depot 402 N. Second St. Thursday Oct. 23rd from 5-7PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lawrence - Douglas County Housing Authority's Resident Services Office (www. ldcha.org), or the education fund for his children c/o Hilda Cowen 23461 Guthrie Rd. Linwood, Ks 66052.
