Stacy Elaine McDonald – Garlock (February 5th, 1971 – September 20th, 2014) Stacy Garlock passed away on September 20th, 2014, after a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A graduate of Highland Park High School, Stacy went on to earn her Associates Degree in Paralegal through Penn-Foster University. She was an active volunteer in the community for several years. She was the PTO President at Lundgren Elementary School for three years, Booster Club member at Topeka HIgh School, several years coaching volleyball for the YMCA and assisting her husband with youth baseball teams at Highland Park Baseball Association. She was a host parent for the AFS foreign exchange student program for many years and an advocate for childrens rights through means of community volunteerism. She spent this past summer assisting special needs young adults with their softball games, all while being a post-bone marrow transplant patient.
She is survived by her Husband, Patrick Garlock; Son Zakkhary Garlock; Daughter Jessica Garlock; Mother, Janet McDonald; Father Rick McDonald; Step-Mother Ramona McDonald; Brother Bryan McDonald; Sister Heather Morton and her husband, Craig Morton; Their two daughters, Darian & Hailey Morton, all of Topeka. She also is survived by several Uncles, Aunts and cousins from Topeka.
Stacy fought a courageous battle against a brutal disease. She was fortunate to have been a recipient of a bone marrow transplant through means of stem cells, by her sister Heather. Although Stacy relapsed from the aggressive form of the disease, her life was extended by over one year after diagnosis due to her incredible courage and the intense medical help she got from the Oncology team at the University of Kansas Hospital and Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
Stacy will be long remembered and never forgotten.
