Shirley Jo Wright

Shirley Jo Wright, 82, of Topeka, KS passed away on December 13, 2023.

She was born to Joseph and Norma "Lucurn" (Shipman) Wright on June 5, 1941, in Olathe, Kansas.

Shirley's dad was in the Navy and her family moved around. She lived in New York, Virginia, Kansas, and Puerto Rico while growing up. In her early twenties she returned to Olathe and married Conway "Jack" Dougan, they later divorced. She remained in Olathe for several years, until she met Frank Highfill. They were married and moved to Topeka, Kansas. Frank and Shirley later divorced but they remained companions until his death in 1997.

Shirley enjoyed being with family, friends, and having a good time. She spent her adult years working as a waitress, bartender, and raising children.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Patti Ann, son, Joseph Wright (Shelly), daughters, Vickie Angermayer (Gene), Suzi Dougan, Tammy Highfill, and Tasha Simmons, twenty-five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Brian Dougan and Jackie Dougan, two granddaughters, Katy Jo Dougan, and Tabitha Cremer, a brother, Michael Wright, and her parents.

Shirley wished to have a private burial service at a later date.
