Shirley "Nanny" Long Dugger

September 6, 1935 — November 24, 2024

Shirley "Nanny" Long Dugger, a cherished matriarch, and beacon of love and faith, passed away on November 24, 2024, in her hometown of Topeka, KS. Born on September 6, 1935, also in Topeka, Shirley's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and unwavering faith.

Shirley was a graduate of Highland Park High School, and her commitment to her community was evident through her lifetime of service, marked by her compassionate nature, as she provided companion care for the disabled and worked in respite care in hospice. She was a dedicated member of Topeka First Church of the Nazarene. She taught Sunday school in church for many years, touching the lives of generations of children with her faith and kindness. Shirley's generous spirit and willingness to help those in need were hallmarks of her character and left a lasting impact on all those she encountered.

Shirley found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her garden was a place of tranquility and beauty, and she delighted in the act of nurturing her plants alongside her family. She was a playful soul who loved to spoil her grandbabies, and her penchant for being a bit naughty and pulling pranks will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

As a devoted wife to her late husband, Harold "Dug" Dugger, of 59 years, and a loving mother to her sons, Michael and Mark Dugger, who preceded her in death, as well as "Nanny" to her grandchild, Sean Dugger, and great-grandchildren, Devin Greeve (Dugger), Gabrielle Greeve (Dugger) and Tyler Crouse, who also preceded her in death.

Shirley's legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Ryan Dugger, Jonathon Kelley, Tonya Dugger and Robert Clark, Delaney and Ruan DaSilva, Camden Dugger and Shy Dugger. Her great-grandchildren, Charlotte Clark, Lucca DaSilva, and Lorenzo DaSilva will grow up with stories of her warmth and the laughter she shared.

Shirley was the rock of her family, a woman with a loving, faith-filled, and generous spirit. Her resilience and kind spirit, paired with an unyielding willpower, made her the cornerstone upon which her family could always rely. She was a devoted and loving wife, momma, and Nanny, fiercely loved in return by all those whose lives she touched.

Though she has passed from this world, the memory of Shirley "Nanny" Long Dugger will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. Her influence will continue to guide and inspire, and her spirit will live on in the countless lives she enriched with her presence.

As we bid farewell to Shirley, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, silliness and faith. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten, for she has left behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will continue to resonate for generations to come.
