Shirley Rae Evans Manger

Shirley Rae Evans Manger was born on March 10th 1936 in Topeka, Kansas to the daughter of Earl A Evans and Jesse Marie Holt. She died on June 15, 2017 at Midland Hospice.

She grew up in Topeka, KS, where she graduated from Topeka High School in 1954. She attended Clark Business College, after graduating she went to work for KPNL as a data entry operator.

While she was living in Topeka, KS she met her husband of 62 years, Herbert L Manger, while attending North Topeka Baptist Church. They got married April 22, 1956, after marriage they moved to Baltimore, Maryland. They moved back to Topeka, KS in 1959 to raise their family.

Shirley was a homeroom mother, a den mother for cub scouts and gave piano lessons to the neighborhood children. Shirly started the Kilmers Quilt group and was involved in the VIP lunch group at the North Topeka Baptist Church for many years. Shirley and Herb were members of the Arab Shrine Temple in Topeka, KS. They were part of the Arab Shrine patrol and the 32 Rosters and Antique cars.

She is survived by her husband, Herb Manger; three daughters: Diana Manger, Dawn Smith (Shawn) and Debbie Woods (Mark); Two sons: David Manger (Susan) and Allen Brown (Cindy). One sister: Marilyn Epperson (Ken). Eleven grandkids and 6 great grandkids.

A memorial service will be at 12:00 PM, Monday June 19, 2017, at North Topeka Baptist Church, 123 NW Gordon Topeka, KS 66608. Lunch will be immediately following the memorial in the Fellowship Hall of North Topeka Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made in the honor of Shirley Manger to the Midland Hospice House of Topeka and the Arab Shrine Temple of Topeka.
