Shirley Marie Koci was born (December 10th, 1936) and raised in Spiro, OK where she attended Spiro High School. She left this earth on April 26th, 2023.
She married Donald H. Koci, Sr. November 30th 1956 in Spiro, OK after which he whisked her away to Auburn, KS and a brand new house he'd built for her, on the family land.
She lived a full life raising her kiddos, helping her grandkids, and nursing in an outpatient clinic and at St Francis in Labor and Delivery.
Three years ago we used many of the same words when we said goodbye to Grandpa. Grandma, Mom, GG is gone now too. We still believe we would all count ourselves blessed to have a love that lasts 65 years and a legacy of three strong men Don (Ann) Koci, Randy Koci, Mike Koci (deceased), 5 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many friends. She stood for love, creativity, hard work, and a can do attitude. GG never met a craft she couldn't do herself: from gorgeous ruffled dresses, stunning quilts, to paintings and engraving emu eggs, crochet, Swedish weaving, and literally anything you could think of. She made us all feel like we were loved, mistakes and all. Until we see you again Mom, Sister, Grandmother, GG we love you so much!
Please join us in celebrating her life during an informal gathering at the Auburn Presbyterian Church, 1101 N. Washington Street, Auburn, KS, May 31st, 2023 from 9-10:30 AM.
