Sharon Kaye Longyear

November 24, 1949 — November 21, 2025

Sharon Kaye Longyear, born November 24, 1949, passed away on November 21, 2025, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Sharon was the beloved daughter of Jack and Goldie Foster and sister to Bobby Slocom and Donn Foster, all of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1967. Sharon built a diverse and dedicated career, working as a server, secretary, phlebotomist, and most recently as a sorter for the United States Postal Service, where she eventually retired. Sharon also proudly chose to serve her country by joining the Army Reserves.

In 2002, Sharon married the love of her life, Robert Livingston Longyear III. Through their marriage, she welcomed Robert's two children, Robert and Christy Longyear, into her life. Sharon and Robert shared countless adventures and a deep devotion to family, friends, and one another. Their time together was filled with joy, companionship, and unwavering love. Robert preceded her in death in October 2024.

Sharon leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and generous spirit.

She found joy in cooking, entertaining, and cheering on her favorite teams—especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks. Sharon's warmth, humor, and love for gathering people together will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at a later date.
