Sharon Kaye Kimberly (Nuzzi)

October 3, 1943 — August 11, 2025

Sharon Kaye Kimberly (Nuzzi), age 81, of Overbrook, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by some of her family. Born on October 3, 1943, in Durant, Oklahoma, Sharon lived a full and fearless life, marked by adventure, determination, and a deep love for those around her.

A headstrong and independent woman, Sharon was known for speaking her mind—whether you were ready to hear it or not. She lived boldly and unapologetically, with a sense of humor and zest for life that made her unforgettable to everyone who knew her.

Sharon spent most of her career at Boeing, where she began as a secretary and, through hard work and perseverance—including earning her degree while raising her children—advanced to the role of project manager. Her professional journey reflected the same tenacity and drive that defined her personal life.

She was adventurous to her core. Sharon loved camping, scuba diving, snow and water skiing, and traveling to new places. One of her proudest traditions was taking each of her grandchildren on a special one-on-one trip to Disney World—an experience they will treasure forever. She also had a creative and nurturing side, finding joy in sewing, cooking, and tending to her garden.

Sharon is survived by her brother William Little (Barbara) of Tecumseh, KS; Her sister-in-law Julie Eschker (Joe) and brother-in-law Michael Nuzzi of Roebling, NJ; Her children Denise Townsley (Eric) of Colorado Springs, CO; Joey Nuzzi (Lily) of Clearwater, FL; Jill Harding (Dean) of Topeka, KS; and James Nuzzi of Wichita, KS. Her grandchildren Briana Gottschamer, Drew Townsley (Becca), Austin Townsley and Elizabeth Townsley, all of Colorado Springs; Brandi Wells (Chase) of Overbrook, KS; and Garret Gottschamer of Carbondale, KS. Great-grandchildren Tristin and Tinley Townsley of Prairie Village, KS; Johnlee and Cainyn Wells of Overbrook, KS; Levi John Townsley of Colorado Springs, CO and many nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her sisters LaVeta Murray (Dennis) and Carla Cook (Tom) her former husband Joseph Nuzzi, her daughter, Joni Nuzzi, her grandson Levi Scott Townsley, her nephew Jon Murray and a niece Julie Jayne Haas.

Sharon leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, fearless adventure, and cherished memories. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her to live fully, speak honestly, and love deeply.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W Fourth Ave, Hutchinson, KS. A reception will follow, with details provided at the service.
