Sharon D. Harmon, a lifelong resident of Topeka, KS, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on June 23, 1937, Sharon was known for her spirited nature and loving heart, traits that endeared her to everyone she met.
A proud graduate of Topeka High School in 1955, Sharon's thirst for knowledge led her to further her education at Kansas University and Washburn University. Her professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence, retiring from MCI Industries after years of service. Prior to that, she made significant contributions to the healthcare sector, working for Cotton O'Neil Cardiology and Blue Cross Blue Shield of KS.
Sharon's passion for gardening was evident to all who knew her. Her gardens were a testament to her patience and tender care, flourishing under her attentive watch.
Her involvement in her community and various associations demonstrated Sharon's commitment to service and collaboration. She believed in the power of working together for the common good and dedicated countless hours to fostering connections and supporting the initiatives she was passionate about.
Sharon's legacy is lovingly carried on by her cherished family. She was preceded in death by Rex A. Harmon. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Sarah Skinner, and son, Jeff Harmon. Her sister, Laurie Graves (Gary), will fondly remember her companionship and unbreakable bond. Sharon's grandchildren, Andrew Anderson, Meghan Gardner, and Mitchell Kuykendall will miss their grandmother's warmth and guidance. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Rhonda Otto (Doug), Richard Harmon, and Randy Harmon, who were grateful for the kindness and love she extended to them.
Sharon's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and commitment to those around her. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to Sharon Harmon, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories she leaves behind.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Avenue, Topeka. Private burial of her urn will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.
