On June 8, 2026, Samuel Walter Chase, Sr, 78, of Topeka, KS, passed away in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side.
He was born February 17, 1948, in Modesto, CA the son of Floyd and Lenora (Currey) Chase.
Sam survived two tours in Vietnam before being discharged.
Sam was a well-known man to many persons. He was the kind of person who would put a smile on anyone’s face, even if he didn’t know them personally. Most importantly he was a husband and father that was always there for his family when they needed him most. He would visit with anyone who was around him and make their day brighter by telling them the best jokes. Not matter what he was going through or had gone through he stayed strong and to fight everyday as he was a very ill man.
Sam assisted many people with many skills and one thing he would say as he did this was “Your parents will not be around forever so it is best you learn as much as you can here on earth”. He would also say, “Never disrespect your parents”! He fought through many testimonies so he as always telling those who would listen to him, “No matter what happens continue to fight until your time”.
Sam is survived by his companion of 51 years, Helen V. Coleman, his children, Kimberlyn Chase, Christina Chase, Misti L. Coleman Collins, Michelle R. Coleman Pavelac, Sonya V. Chase-Willeman, and Samuel W. Chase, II a sister, Cora Chase Lawson. Four grandchildren, Dillon G. Collins, Tyler L. Chase, Xavior M. Chase Pavelac, Tallisman A. Pavelac, along with two nephews, Mark Lawson and Gary Lawson, also survive.
He was preceded in death by four siblings, Floyd Chase, Frank Chase, Vernon Chase, Joyce Chase and a grandson, Dylan Pike.
Cremation has taken place and no service are planned at this time.
