S. E. (Gene) Larrison, 82, of Topeka, KS, passed away at Midland Care Hospice House on Saturday, August 13, 2016 after bravely battling cancer.
Gene was born February 18, 1934 in Axtell, KS, the son of Edgar D. and Margaret M. Rogers Larrison. He was raised in the Holton community and started his lifelong career as a farmer there. He traveled far and wide, finally settling in Atchison, KS where he married Margaret J. Jackson on August 15, 1951. They were married 42 years until cancer claimed her life May 9, 1994. He later married Donna Roller Moser on June 17, 1995. She survives at their home in Topeka, KS.
In addition to farming, Gene also worked for the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer, retiring after 30 years in Atchison, KS. He enjoyed fishing and hunting game birds in his spare time. He relocated to Topeka, KS with in his second marriage and enjoyed traveling many statesand wintering in Texas. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church men's group. He loved taking his family and friends out to enjoy a meal and share jokes. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend to all. Gene will be sorely missed.
Additional survivors include: daughters Sandra (Bill) Dunbar of Atchison, KS; Nancy (Randy) Welch of Scranton, KS, and Margaret Kau of Atchison, KS; son Curtis Larrison of Atchison, KS; stepsons Steve Moser and Scott (Robin) Moser of Topeka, KS, and Phil Moser of Chicago, IL; half-brothers Jerry Larrison and Rex Larrison of Holton, KS; John Larrison and Mack Larrison of Topeka, KS; half-sisters Connie Bird of New Mexico; Sherry (John) Skirvin of Emporia, KS and Penny (Ed) Atchison of Auburn, KS. Gene has 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Susie Larrison.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church (2627 SW Western Ave) in Topeka with the Reverend Cherie Baker officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation with Gene's family one hour prior to the service at the church. A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date in Atchison, KS for the family.
