Roy Wesley Smith, 89, died June 9, 2014 in Manhattan, KS. A resident over 50 years in Anaheim and Brea CA, he was born Feb 1, 1925 in Dayton, OH to Katherine (Traud) and George Downing Smith. On Feb 4, 1950, Roy married Patricia Ann Dwyer who passed away on July 11, 2009 after 59 years together.
After graduating from Kiser High School in Dayton, OH, he served as an Army Radio Operator in WWII (Pacific Theater) from 1943 to 1946. Roy was employed as a technical writer in Southern California for aerospace and commercial engineering firms from 1955 to the early 1980's. An avid reader, he never lost his passion for language and science, but his life-long inspiration was listening to 19th century romantic classical music, especially for the piano.
Survivors include daughter Andrea Frazee (Mark) of Manhattan, KS, granddaughters Rebecca Frazee Spongberg (James) of Huntington Beach, CA and Rachel Frazee of Prairie Village, KS; son Regan Smith (Carol Leone) of Dallas, TX, grandchildren Ryan Smith (Andrea Betts) of Dallas, TX and Olivia Smith of Brooklyn, NY; daughter Tricia Hayden (Robert) of Fullerton, CA; and sister Vivian Geisert of Centerville, OH. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Stutsman.
