Roger Lee Messinger died June 14, 2014, in Topeka, KS, at the age of 61. He was the third of three children born to Robert Lee and Naomi Barton Messinger. He attended high school in El Dorado, KS. He served four years in the U.S. Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal and commendations for marksman M-16, sharpshooter, grenade, and 45-caliber pistol.
During Roger's life he had many occupations including carpenter and road & bridge construction worker. He loved riding and working on his 1979 Harley.
He was proceeded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Naomi Everly of Osage City, KS; sisters Peggy (Dennis) Hodges of Lebo, KS and Pat Whitley of Kansas City, MO; two nephews, Ryan (Leslie) Whitley and Blake (Diana) Whitley; two nieces, Julie Harrison and Dava Jones; two great-nieces, Haley Harrison and Reagan Whitley, great-nephew Ty Whitley, Aunts and Uncles Bill and Becky Messinger (Salem Nebraska), Erma and Hank Menze (KC), Julie Ann and Vern Slavin (KC), Frances and Earl Cordell (Soldier), and Cousins.
Inurnment will be private at the Sabetha, KS cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
