Roberta "Bert" Jean Turner, 78, of Topeka, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Midland Hospice.
Bert was born July 26, 1936, in Riley, Kan., the daughter of William Loney and Dorothy Rachel (Condray) Loney. Her twin brother, Robert Dean Loney, died at 6 months of age. Bert spent her early years in Riley and later graduated from Lawrence High School.
She attended dental assistant's school and worked as a dental assistant for Drs. Gary Newman and Mark Hall, both of Topeka, and Robert Gillihan, of Lawrence.
Bert married Les Regnier in November 1957. They later divorced. They had a daughter, Cheryl (Regnier) Kelly.
In the 1980s, Bert moved to Topeka. She married Art Turner on March 14, 1992. He survives.
Other survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Patrick) Kelly, of Topeka; two sisters, Dorothy Kirby, of Sparta, Tenn., and Patricia Burke, of Moore, Okla.; two brothers, Mike Shannon, of Manhattan, Kan., and Don Lovgren, of Kingman, Ariz.; stepsons Bret Turner, of Topeka, and Jason Jones, of New York City; and granddaughters Erin and Colleen Kelly.
Bert was a member of Phi Tau Omega sorority. She enjoyed visiting with friends and always seemed to bump into former dental patients while shopping. She especially liked spending time with granddaughters Erin and Colleen.
Bert was cremated. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
