Richard Donovan

Richard Donovan passed away peacefully at age 82, surrounded by family at home. Donovan told his last inappropriate joke on Saturday, July 11, 2020, which cannot be printed here. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda, a son, Rod, two daughters, Lori and Bonnie, seven grandchildren, Cody, Chelsea, Molly, Andrew, Ryan, Brianna and Derek, and one great grandson, Jacob. Richard's forty year career with the railroad took his family through 22 moves. He ultimately settled in Topeka, KS in 1995. His charismatic sense of humor made him a well loved manager, colleague and friend.  Richard became a Shriner in 1983 and then was brought into the Mini-T's in 1984. He was an active member of Crestview United Methodist Church. The type of man people would frequently travel great lengths to see, Richard loved to play golf, and cheer on his favorite teams: Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks. The way he died is just like he lived: he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way. And if you said he couldn't do it, he would make sure he did.
