Richard A. Winkler, known to many as Dick, age88, of Wamego, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026.
He was born on June 16, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas to Adrian and Louise Winkler.
Dick graduated from Bethany College, where he met the love of his life, Myrline, and worked for many years as a schoolteacher/librarian. Together they adopted 9 children. He is survived by his children, Corey Winkler, Katie (Vince) Deneault, Ann Wells, Mary (Brad) Evans, Margie (JR) Walsh, Danny Winkler, Ted (Charlene) Winkler, Michael (Heather) Winkler, Christy Winkler, 17 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by his wife, Myrline J. Winkler in July 2021.
Dick will be remembered for his love, compassion, and devotion to the community. He was actively involved in his church and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and helping others. His faith guided every aspect of his life and was evident in the kindness, generosity, and encouragement he shared with everyone he met.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 700 Lincoln Avenue, Wamego, KS 66547.
