Richard Duane Collins

Richard ( Dick) Duane Collins passed away peacefully at home Feb 25, 2017. His wife Cherry Morgan Collins, his constant companion for 27 years morns his passing as do his stepsons Jack 'Blaine' Morgan along with wife Susie and Jay James and Jennifer Morgan. Dick was always known as "Honey "to their grandchildren and great grandchildren . 'Honey' was deeply loved and will be greatly missed . Blaine's firstborn Jacqui Morgan along with her two sons Alex and Flynn along with her brother Michel Morgan will miss 'Honey' and all the love he showed them as will Jay and his wife Jennifers two children Sara and youngest Oliver Morgan .

Dick was a painter and sheet rocker for many years. He painted towers with his brother Bruce and sheet rocked all over the country. He and Cherry then concentrated on interior design and restorations in and around Maple Hill for many year as well as pursuing their love of anitique and collectable items for their shops. Many homes in Maple Hill and surrounding area's are complimented by the talent of Dick Collins painting and restoration

Dick was born in Topeka Kansas to Florence Ellen Langston and Richard Harold Collins.

Dick graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1955. He joined the National Guard shortly after and the the Navy. Dick was aware the Good Conduct Medal on February 24 1957. 60 years to the day of his death. While in the Guard Dick received sharp shooter medals and accommodations. He was an MP with the National Guard. Dick was always proud of his service to his country and proud of being an America Veteran.

Dick was the second child, his sister Janice was the first born. Janice Gepner survives and lives with her husband Earl in Maple Hill, Ks.

Dick had 4 younger brothers. Harold Richard, Jerry Glen ( Linda), James ( Jim) Mitchel ( Connie)and Robert 'Bruce'. (Marcia)

Jerry and Bruce preceded Dick in death ,

Dicks first wife DeLores Parks as well as three stepsons and a daughter preceded Dick in death. Ricky Gilmore, Bobbie Gilmore, Kelly Gilmore and Martha Ellen May Collins. All rest at the Valley Falls Cemetery . Dick and DeLores lived at Valley Falls for many years and the children attended school there. Ricky passed away while still in high school, he had no children. The boys and daughter Martha provided Dick with several much loved grandchildren. Kyle and Abby are children of Bobby Gilmore. Kelly's family were wife Cindy and children Ricky, Bobby and Percilla. Gilmore. Daughter Martha gave Dick two grandsons, Timothy Joseph- 'T.J.' and Trenton Anderson. All his grandchildren loved Dick. He loved and was very proud of all his grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His sister Janice has 4 children, Allen, Debbie, Cathy and Penny Boyce. Bruce had two children, a Daughter Brenda Kay and son Robert Cole Collins.

Dick's extended family consists of 12 great grandchildren that enjoyed their time with him.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Grace Hospice or Maple Hill Senior Citizens Center.
