Raymond Roy Murphy, 77, passed away at his home in Marysville, KS, on September 6, 2024.
He was born July 20, 1947, in Norfolk County, VA, the son of Byron and Betty (McCaig) Murphy. Later his family moved to Centralia, KS, where he graduated from Centralia High School.
Ray worked for Gilbert Central, then Peter Kiewit. He traveled all over building bridges and heavy construction. When he returned to Marshall County, he retired from Landoll Corp.
Ray is survived by a son, Chris (Jessica) Murphy of Townsend, GA, a daughter, Sarah (Carl) Wardlaw of Vidalia, GA, grandchildren, Mikaila, Moriah, Mischa, Malana, Caitlyn, Madison, Micah and Anthony. Other survivors include brothers, Dave Rettele of Salina, KS, Charles Murphy of Hawaii, Sam Murphy of Centralia, KS, Gerald (Cindy) Murphy of Marysville, KS, sister-in-law, Claudia Murphy of Leonardville, KS, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Betty Murphy, a daughter, Angela Murphy, a son, Ray Murphy, Jr. and a brother Neely Murphy.
A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Centralia Cemetery, Centralia, KS.
