Raymond Hesse, 71, born in Denison, Iowa, January 31, 1951, passed away in Carbondale Kansas, on September 5, 2022. Ray was the first of five children born to Darrell and Elaine Hesse (Hansen). Ray was born in small town Iowa and grew up living in Mapleton, Battle Creek, Odebolt, and Sioux City. By late teens Ray had reconnected with his estranged father and moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa it was there, he met his future wife, Cheryl, mother of Jeanette and Rodney. Ray had several careers during his working years, cleaning crew, worked on a farm, worked in steel manufacturing, moving crew, home remodeler and finally truck driver. He really enjoyed driving over the road, seeing the US and taking family and friends along at times. He had one more big job to do after he stopped going over the road. He worked for a local moving company, while raising children he called his own, Shari Fenwick and Richard Hartley. In recent months Ray had also been helping care for his beloved mother. He moved to Carbondale in recent years and loved the change and a whole new group of friends he met there. After years of doctoring a "bad heart", the guy with such a big heart leaves behind many with broken hearts: his mother Elaine Hansen, daughter Jeanette Nichols, son Rodney Hesse, Richard Hartley and Shari Fenwick, sisters: Jeanne Hesse and Judy Matthews, brother-in-law Gus Weilandt, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephew. Ray rests in peace with his father: Darrell Hesse, sister: Joanne Weilandt and brother: Dennis Hesse.
