Ray L. "Butch" German, 77, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at his home in Agenda, Kansas.
He was born on January 26, 1944, in Fall City, Nebraska the son of Ray Walter and Minnie (Koso) German.
Ray served his country in the Army National Guard for 43 years retiring as an E-6. He was a specialty Deputy/Sheriff in Fall City during his younger years. Ray was a farm laborer in the Agenda area, working for local farmers before his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Ray was an avid bowler, bowling in a league in Belleville, KS for many years. He enjoyed horseshoes and won his 1st tournament when he was 16 years old. Ray was on the shooting team for the National Guard that was ranked 3rd in the state. He fought wildfires in Wyoming during his time in the guard as well as tornado assistance several times.
Ray was a member of the local VFW as well as the Masons.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rene (Strnad) German, four children, Gary (Michelle) Wendtlendt of Columbus, NE, Shelly Craig of Fall City, NE, RaeAnn German of Agenda, KS and Roxie (Jerimiah) Zachgo of Lincoln, KS. Two sisters, Marilyn Anderson of Porum, OK, Margaret Ried of Farmerville, LA along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Minnie German, a son, David Sailors, a sister, Mary, and a brother Roger.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Agenda United Methodist Church with Masonic Service being conducted by the Belleville Masonic Lodge #129. Burial of his urn will follow at Agenda Cemetery with military honors by the Kansas National Guard Funeral Detail. All are invited to join the family back at the church for a meal following the burial.
