Patty Marie (Stamm) Diehl (1949-2024)
Patty passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2024, surrounded by family, after many years battling Alzheimer's. Patty was born and raised in Topeka and spent most of her life there as well.
Patty was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved nothing more than watching her family do the things they loved most; she was their biggest fan and supporter. Patty was not known for her athletic ability but that didn't stop her from giving her kids pointers about whatever sport they were participating in. She didn't have many hobbies beyond spending time with family and reading but she did enjoy pulling out her medical textbook and trying to diagnose any of her children's ailments.
Patty loved children and spent most of her life caring for them as her career. Her favorite age was infant, and she spent many years caring for babies at Mother's Day Out. Any kids that came through her room were forever "her kids." Years later she could still remember all the kids' names and have stories about them when she saw them, or their name was brought up. She had many jobs throughout her life but there wasn't one that she enjoyed as much as her time at Mother's Day Out.
Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie and Wayne Stamm, her sisters Mary Parsons and Betty Spangler, her husband Stephen Diehl, and her oldest daughter, Stacie Raine. Survivors include son, Jeff (Sarah) Diehl, daughter, Sarah (Karla) Diehl, daughter, Maggie Diehl as well as many grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
