Pamela Sue (Payne) Schlup

Pamela Sue (Payne) Schlup, 70, of Hiawatha, Kansas died August 24, 2022 at 1255 am, after a long battle with metastatic lung cancer at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 21, 1952 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Herschel and Louise Payne. She married Micheal Schlup on August 11, 1972 and he survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Melonie (Charles) of Hiawatha, Kansas, and two sons, Michael Jr. (Stephanie) of Grinnell, Iowa and James (Shana) of Hiawatha, Kansas; seven granddaughters and four grandsons; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, three brothers, Dale, Jim and Stephen and three sisters, Katherine Veach, Beverly Goudie and Carol Fender preceded her in death. Pam was a devoted wife and mother, following her husband across the United States as he climbed the ladder in his profession. She loved going to garage sales, collecting glass swans and knick knacks, bird watching, gardening and reading books. They finally settled in Hiawatha to be able to spend time with their daughter and grandchildren in retirement. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
