Oleta Lee (Andrews) Curtis

March 2, 1938 — August 16, 2023

Oleta Lee (Andrews) Curtis, fondly known as "Olie", passed away at the age of 85 on August 16, 2023 in Topeka, KS. Born on March 2, 1938 in Downs, KS, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and a warm, welcoming spirit. Her passing was due to congestive heart failure, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.

Olie was a devoted mother to four children: Sheri (Ashley) Brandwood, Laurie Moody, Jay (Kimberly) Curtis, and Jimmy (Janet) Curtis. Her love for family extended to her grandchildren, Curtis Glidewell (Virginia Cover), Miles and Maddie, AJ and Miranda Moody, Allison (Jered) Miller, David and Annette, Mellanie (Andrew) Burch, Drew, Declan, Jace, and Morissa Ware. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Her grandson Chris Glidewell and Chris's son, Micah, preceded her in death and were waiting to greet her upon her arrival in heaven.

Olie was more than just a mother to her own children; she was a mother figure to many. Her home was always a gathering place, filled with love, laughter, and of course, plenty of tasty treats. She managed the chaos of raising four children with grace and humor, always ready with a hug, a listening ear, or an encouraging word. Her knack for making everyone feel welcome was a testament to her big heart and nurturing spirit.

In her spare time, Olie enjoyed playing Yahtzee and Bingo, doing word search puzzles, and crafting. She had a love for game shows and was often quicker with the right answers than the actual contestants. Olie also had a passion for baking, filling her home with the sweet smells of cakes, cookies, and brownies. She found joy in making people laugh, and her infectious laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.

As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Olie embodied this sentiment, touching the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and love.

Olie's life was a testament to the power of love and laughter. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the memories and traditions shared by her family and friends.
