Norman Lee Leinacker, 85, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015. Norman was born 9/24/29 in Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Rose Leinacker , his children Joseph Norman and Sharon Lee at birth and brother, Larry Leinacker. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Gale and daughters Tamy (David) Simmons, and Vicki Leinacker. Grandchildren Piper(Aaron) Hower, Hunter Simmons and Cody Cowser. Great grandchildren, Jordan, Jayce and Brentley Simmons, Zolie Jones-Mayfield, Poppy Hower and Coy and Cali Cowser . Brother Ed Leinacker, Sisters Patty Johnson, Rosie Crocker and Betty Feldmeier and Sister-in law, Marilyn Leinacker. Norm served in the Navy and was Golden Gloves Boxer. He began his career with the Topeka Fire Department on December 15, 1956. He worked through the ranks and retired as District Chief in 1989 after 33 years of service. In his younger years, Norm was an avid outdoors man and athlete. He loved to fish and hunt. He loved the family camping trips to Tuttle Creek. He pitched for the Coffee Cup Café Men's Fast pitch softball team for many years. "Stormin Norman" as he was called by many excelled in several sports. Bowling, Pool, Golf and Ping Pong He is sorely missed by many.
Norm was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to the Firefighters Auxiliary in care of the funeral home.
