Normajean J (Schonfeldt) Bennett, age 92, of Topeka passed away on
Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Brewster Community in Topeka. Normajean
was born July 27, 1933 in Silver Lake, KS, the daughter of John C.
Schonfeldt and Doris Armstrong. She graduated from Seaman High School
in 1950. She married Donald D. Bennett, Sept. 9, 1951 in Topeka. Later in
life, Normajean completed her Bachelor degree in Education from
Washburn University and completed her Masters degree in Special
Education from Kansas State University. She taught 3rd grade at Silver
Lake Elementary before finishing her teaching career in elementary Special
Education classes.
Normajean spent many years after her retirement
traveling nationally and internationally with family and friends. In
Normajean’s 60’s she began a new career! She greatly enjoyed the
interaction with other women while selling MaryKay Cosmetics. During her
spare time, she quilted, played Bunko, dominoes and many card games.
She was a lifetime member of Seaman Community Church. Normajean
was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bennett, and her parents.
Normajean is survived by her daughters, Linda (Steve) Walters, West Point, NE,
Carol (Pat Mulroy) Griffin, Holton, KS, Susan (Darrel)
Pendergast, Congress, AZ and Shari (Doug Roth) Bennett-Roth of Axtell,NE,
a brother, John (Sandy) Schonfeldt, Ozawakie, KS, seven grandchildren,
16 great grandchildren two great-great grandchildren and two nephews.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 at 10:30am at Seaman
Community Church. Visitation will be at 9:30am before the service begins.
The celebration will be telecasted live through the Church website https://www.scctopeka.com/livestream
