Norma Jane Turley

Norma J. Turley, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on December 15, 2024. She was born on November 19, 1946, in Garden City, Kansas, to Ruth and Hersel T. Oliver.

Norma grew up on a 320-acre farm alongside her sisters, where she developed a love of working the land and learning from her father's expertise. She graduated from Garden City High School before moving to Topeka, Kansas, where she completed her education at Washburn University, graduating in 1988. She went on to work for Hills until 1998.

A devoted Christian, Norma was a firm believer in Christ and instilled this faith in her children and grandchildren. She also had a deep love for creativity and writing, always eager to share it with others.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margie Goetz (March 15, 2012), and her grandson Christen Locke (July 5, 2016). She is survived by her sisters Alberta Kleitz of Kansas City, KS, and Doris Arwine of Garden City, KS, her daughters Sheila Locke and Michele Turley of Topeka, KS, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Leana Locke and Keagan Downing. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor Norma's life will be held on January 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Light of the World Christian Center at 3301 SW Gage Blvd in Topeka, KS. Scattering Ceremony will be held by the family at the family farm at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Norma Turley Memorial Fund, held at US Bank, to assist with funeral services and to support the future education of her grandchildren.

Norma will be remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless creativity, and love for her family. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
