Nathan Arthur Jones was born on June 20, 1957, to Reverend Marion E. Jones and Missionary Eleanora G. Bryant-Jones of Topeka, KS. He transitioned into his eternal rest on December 23, 2023.
Nathan was a member of the Church of the Living God and Asbury Mt. Olive Church (Topeka, KS). Nathan graduated from Highland Park High School and worked with Jones Construction Company for a number of years. A talented musician, Nathan played the piano, sang, danced, hosted a radio program, and performed in the Nutcracker. He was also a talented artist, authoring the "Funky London" cartoon series which appeared in the Penny Power newspaper. He also had artwork accepted at Washburn University when he was in the 4th grade.
Nathan is preceded in death by his mother, Eleanora G. Bryant-Jones, father, Elder Marion E. Jones; his sisters: Anna Raimey and Marcella Jones; brothers: Melvin Jones Sr., Carl Jones, Eugene Jones, Russell Jones, Michael Jones(Spider), Joseph Jones, Clyde Jones; nephews: Lonzo Raimey, Joseph Lynn Jones III, Anthony L.V. Jones; great-nephews: De'Angelo Sentrez Lytton(Booder), Aaron Jones (Stinky), Melvin Jones Jr. (Sticks); great-niece, LePree Carroll-Fansler.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Chanei Antoinette Jones and Chanel Alexandria Jones and seven grandchildren Natasha Heaven Deavion Jones, Knowledge Quincy Jones, Neyomiah Nigel Jones, John Lewis Hunter Jr., Janae Alexandria Hope Hunter, and Makayla Cappella-Jones; four sisters: Faith Carroll (George), Lorretta Currington (Fred Smith), Sharon Cooper, Rosette Jones, four brothers: Ray Jones (Janie), John Mark Jones, Timothy Jones, and Norman Ross; two nephews, James Alston and Russell Jones Jr., who gave special care to him and a host of relatives and friends that contributed to his boisterous livelihood.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life services with a repass will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Faith Temple Church, 1162 SW Lincoln Street.
There is not a person who can say they encountered "Uncle Nate" and did not laugh until they had stitches in their sides. Rest in peace "Nate the Great".
