Myrna Ruth Byfield, a vibrant spirit with a passion for quilting, passed away on November 18, 2023. She was born in Kansas City, MO, on July 4, 1934, and lived there until she married James Kenneth Byfield in 1953, after he returned from the Korean War.
They started their family in Prairie Village, KS, and then moved to Gardner, KS, in 1969. Together they raised three children: Richard Byfield of Edgerton, KS, Julie Smith of Edgerton, KS, and Cindy Dallow of Silverthorne, CO, and were married for 54 years before Mr. Byfield passed away in 2006.
Myrna then moved to Greeley, CO, where she continued her active involvement in quilting groups and the Greeley Newcomers Club.Myrna's quilts earned awards and adorned public spaces, including the Sod Buster Inn and the University of Northern Colorado Michener Library in Greeley. Besides quilting, Myrna enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and traveling. Known for her wit, humor, and orneriness, she left an unforgettable impression on all who knew her.
In the company of her family, Myrna leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
