Topeka – Ellen May "Ms. Ellen" Ross , 67, passed away July 30, 2021. She was born November 29, 1953, in Topeka, KS, to William "Bill" Logan and Goldie (Parker) Logan. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry Logan, sisters Peggy Flott and Judy Fisher, granddaughter Leah Ross and spouse Richard Michael "Doggie" Thacher. She is survived by her daughters Jessica Ross and Johanna Ross, both of Topeka, sister Debra Whitfield, Valley Falls, ex-husband, and friend Gary Ross, Topeka. One grandson, Keanu, Topeka who was the light of her life. Ellen was President of the Quinton Heights Neighborhood Association for many years. She was very influential in many positive changes in her neighborhood. Much of her professional career was spent lobbying and fighting for changes in the city where she was born and raised. She was very outspoken and had a niche for public speaking. Ellen taught her daughters at a young age the importance of standing up for what they believe, even when it's not the popular vote. Helping animals was her true passion. Ellen had the biggest heart when it came to her animals. She was the "dog whisperer." She ran a no-kill shelter out of her home for over 20 years. A Celebration of life (Ellen's final meeting) will be Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Grace United Methodist Church (Gymnasium) at 2627 SW Western Ave Topeka, KS 66611
