Mindy Leigh Hegwald

Mindy Leigh Hegwald, age 48, passed away surrounded by her family on December 1, 2022 at KU Medical Center from complications of Covid.

She was born in Burlington, Kansas on September 18, 1974 to James and Susie Hegwald (Metzger). She spent much of her childhood in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She earned her GED then studied hospital administration through Hutchinson Junior College. She married Tony Reeves and three children were born to this union. They were later divorced. Mindy was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, her children Adrienne (Brandon) Gatton of Chanute, Kansas, Michael Reeves of Chanute, Kansas, William Reeves of Claremore, Oklahoma, Grandchildren Jack Gatton 7 and Lucy Gatton, 15 months, her companion of more than eight years, Jeff Troyer of Burlington, Kansas, her sisters Melissa (Robert) Gifford of New Strawn, Kansas, Keri (Santo) Hernandez of Tonopah, Arizona, and her brother Casey (Melissa) Hegwald of Derby, Kansas, plus several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mindy will be missed by Zoey, their Golden Lab who was by her side until the end. Mindy lived her life for her family and doted on her two grandchildren.

She loved crafting and involved her family when she could. Mindy battled Wegner's disease for 13 years.

Private memorial services were held Saturday, December 11th at Big Creek Cemetery. Many family members wore the color pink in honor of Mindy's favorite color. Everything had to be pink, pink and more pink. We love and miss you Mindy.
