Michelle Kay Lopez Blasdel passed peacefully from this earth on Monday, April 10th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS, at the age of 54.
Michelle was born to Chad & Phyllis Lopez in Salina, KS, on April 10, 1963 and she was the middle of 3 children. The family later moved to Topeka, KS, where she spent the majority of her childhood. She later graduated Washburn Rural High School, class of 1981. No matter where life took her, including California, Oklahoma, Indiana, & other parts of Kansas, she had the ability to make all feel like home. She worked & volunteered for many different organizations over the years.
Welcoming three children into her life, she wouldn't hesitate to express the love, pride, and joy she had for them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, her grandchildren, family gatherings, dancing, singing karaoke, attending concerts or working for them, and rooting on the Kansas City Chiefs, KC Royals, and Washburn Ichabods. She always knew the happenings around town and her presence always made them that more enjoyable.
A stranger to no one and her kindness made her a friend to so many, whether for just a brief moment or for a lifetime. For the various struggles Michelle endured in life, this allowed her to emphasize, love and care for the people that needed it most. Anyone who knew her knows that her spirit & personality will never be replicated and it's this light that will live on with her memory. Michelle passed away the same day as she arrived here and it was this uniqueness that made her the light that will never be forgotten. She will always be cherished, loved and remembered forever. She was preceded in death & is now with her father Chad Lopez, Topeka, KS. Michelle is survived by her mother Phyllis Lopez, Topeka, KS; children- daughter Rachel Blasdel, St. Joseph, MO; son Ryan & his wife Verenise Blasdel & their children- Isabella & Carmen, Haslet, TX; and son Austin Hein, Topeka, KS; brother Michael & his wife Tina Lopez & their children- Danny & Peyten; Topeka, KS; and brother Max Lopez, Kansas City, MO.
