Michael Joseph Stang

Michael Joseph Stang passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2026, at the age of 57. He was born on December 5, 1968, in Topeka, Kansas. Michael was a hardworking man known for his incredible strength, quiet generosity, and deep love for his family. Though his strong presence could seem intimidating at first, those who knew him best knew a kind, gentle man who would do anything for the people he loved.

Michael is survived by his mother, Linda Lee (Jones) Stang; his brothers, Rick Stang and Derek Stang; his daughter, Alexis Stang; his stepson, Luke Parnell; and his six beloved grandchildren, Jiles, Parker, Calvin, Amari, Isaac, and Rylee. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Arthur Stang. Michael was previously married to Beverly McCracken and Bonnie Boos, both of whom remained dear friends throughout the years.

Michael graduated from Highland Park High School, where he excelled in track and field. He competed in shot put, discus, and javelin and proudly qualified for the Kansas Relays in 1985 and 1987 in both shot put and discus. His passion for athletics continued into adulthood, where he earned medals in the Sunflower State Games and other track-and-field competitions across Kansas.

After high school, Michael pursued an education in robotics and engineering before earning his plumbing license. He later chose to set that career aside to start a family and spent many years working as a jeweler. He concluded his career at Futamura, where he was highly respected and admired for his knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to help others.

Outside of work, Michael had many passions. He loved collecting memorabilia, especially Godzilla, Alien, Predator, and Spawn collectibles. Many gifts he received over the years remained unopened in their original packaging because he believed they would someday become valuable collector's items. He also loved spending time outdoors, taking his family fishing at lakes, ponds, and even small creeks. One of his favorite family traditions was the annual October trip to Worlds of Fun, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Michael will be remembered as a man of remarkable strength, unwavering dedication, and a heart full of love for his family. While his appearance could be intimidating, those fortunate enough to know him experienced his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. His memory will live on through the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the family he loved so deeply.

May he rest in the peace of the Lord, forever remembered and forever loved.
