Michael Caldwell Miller, "Mike", 89, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on November 10, 2023, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Mike was born on August 28, 1934, in Junction City, Kanas to Edwin and Margaret Miller. He grew up in Junction City, KS and was a proud graduate of Junction City High School. Mike's work ethic was evident early in life. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, a period of his life that shaped him into the disciplined and resilient man he became. Following his service, he dedicated 36 years to Manhattan Carpet and Interiors, where his colleagues admired his dedication and commitment.
Mike was united in marriage to Karen Ann Cole on August 17th, 1960, In Junction City, KS. She pre-deceased him in 1997. He married Eleanor Ann Bridges on May 1st, 2000, in Eureka Springs, AR. She also pre-deceased him in 2021. He often said he was lucky to have had two loves of his life.
He is survived by his brother, Edwin Miller, Dallas, TX; his son Mark Miller and wife Luann, Manhattan, KS, his daughter Suzie Kells and husband Joel, Manhattan, KS, his son Chris Miller, Lawrence, KS, his daughter Nancy LaCrosse and husband Jeff, Lawrence, KS, and his stepson Tim Bridges, Massillon, OH. He has eight cherished grandchildren, Michael Miller, Lindsey Miller, Steve Miller, Shea Kells, Corey Kells, Brady Kells, Christian LaPointe, Austin LaPointe. and five adored great-grandchildren.
Outside of work, Mike was a man of simple pleasures. In his younger days, his hobbies were woodworking and tinkering with his cars. He had a fondness for Sunday afternoon drives, taking in the beauty of the Kansas landscape. He enjoyed going to movies, playing cards with friends, and trying new restaurants. But above all, Mike treasured spending time with his family. Every Sunday, without fail, he telephoned each of his 4 children to catch up on the latest news. Family gatherings for holidays and birthdays were the highlight of his life.
As we honor Mike's memory, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire. His was a life that touched many, and he will be deeply missed. His family and friends take comfort in knowing that his love, wisdom, and generosity will always guide them.
A private graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
