Michael (Mike) R. Hawkins, 81, of Topeka, KS passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at the House at Midland Care.
He was born June 18, 1941, in Hutchison KS, the son of Richard R. and Virginia M. (Hoskinson) Hawkins.
Mike attended Arlington State College then finished his business degree at K-State. He was a regional Sales Representative for Masonite Building Materials. Later continued with other building material companies such as Midway Wholesales where he retired from. Mike was co-founder along with Steve Cregut of C and H Railroad. He was an active member of several railroad organizations and attended several national railroad conventions. Mike made the Red Caboose for kids at the Great Overland Station.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne D. (Anguish) Hawkins of the home, step-daughter Staci Harris of Topeka, step-son, Martty Harris of Loxley Al, along with three grandchildren, Mariah and Makayla Harris of Topeka, and Shaleigh Fergusson of Soddy Daisy, TN and one great-granddaughter, Tessa of Topeka. Two brothers, Jerome (Pat) Hawkins and his wife, Jane, of St Louis, MO, Danny Hawkins of Fort Worth, TX, a sister, Carol Gil of Ft Worth, TX, a nephew Jason, two nieces Carrie and Laura, two great-nephews, James and Emmett also survive. Mike was prededed in death by his parents, Richard and Virginia Hawkins and a daughter, Heather (Hawkins) Hutton.
A celebration of life will be from 2:00 until 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Great Overland Station, 200 NW Railroad Street, Topeka, KS 66608.
