Melvin H. Lewis III, 70 Topeka passed away on Friday November 25, 2022, at Midland Hospice House. Melvin was born July 6th, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas the son of Melvin H. Lewis Jr.
and Alice (Swaim) Lewis.
After graduating from Shawnee Heights High School (1970), he worked as a project manager, for Combustion Engineering, overseeing power plant construction in Colstrip, Montana and Johannesburg, South Africa. After leaving Combustion Engineering, he returned to Topeka and owned some liquor stores before retiring.
Melvin married Roberta A Duff on July 30th, 1976; she survives. Survivors include a son, Shawn Gordon (Jolene) Christiana, TN. Daughter, Alicia Riddle, Topeka, KS. Grandchildren, Jordan Black, Taylor Black, Jeska Gordon, Shayden Gordon. Also surviving are brothers, Ron Lewis (Janice) Lawrence, KS, Roy Lewis (Robin) Waldport, Oregon, Sister, Launetta Finch (Don) Wakarusa, KS, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
In his spare time, he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, KU basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and was an avid bowler, bowling multiple 300 games.
