Marylin Ruth Andres

Marylin Ruth Andres, 76, of Alta Vista, KS, passed away quietly on August 11, 2023, at the House at Midland care in Topeka.

She was born on August 2, 1947, in Arkansas City, KS, the daughter of William and Ruth (Rahn) Hardy.

Marylin attended a two-room country school and graduated as Valedictorian from Dexter High School. She earned an associate degree from Cowley County Community College.

On June 6, 1969, Marylin and Dwight Andres were married, she then accompanied him to Army bases stationed in Georgia and Washington prior to his deployment to Vietnam.

Marylin has worked in many places, New Erra Mills in Arkansas City, secretary for the Alta Vista Journal along with being a teller at both Anchor Savings and Farmers and Drovers Bank in Council Grove.

Included in her talents were being a 4-H Leader, painted quilt maker, quilt sewer, seamstress, gardener, cook, decorator of the Emmanuel and Dwight Methodist Churches and the EHU office. She was a church officer and an extensive traveler.

Marylin's pride, joy and love for her family was shown by all the handmade gifts she made for them as well as extensive meals on holidays. Her talents and happy smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Marylin is survived by her husband, Dwight Andres, of Alta Vista, two daughters, Brenda (Dave) Kirk of Council Grove and Crista (Aaron) DeJoia of Monument, CO. Five grandchildren, Caleb, Sam and Ella Kirk, and Sophia and Isaac DeJoia also survive.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Dwight Methodist Church.
