Mary Elizabeth Wallace
On Thursday June 21st, 2018, Mary Elizabeth Wallace, beloved friend, died at the age of 84. She was born on October 12th, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to her parents Homer Stanley Wallace and Mollie Kavanaugh Wallace
She is survived by her family of friends Becky Hauer, Jennifer and Conor McAmis, Libby Winfrey, Patrick Kenney, Jamie Kenney, and all whose lives she touched in her many years as a school counselor.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her dear friends Tessa Williams, and Clara Rhoades.
Mary earned her Bachelor's degree from North Texas University before accepting a position as the event coordinator at an army hospital. She later enlisted and proudly served in the army.
After her service, she went on to earn her Masters and Doctorate from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville. She was a counselor at Virginia Tech before accepting a position as a counselor in the Topeka School System in 1989 until her retirement in 1998.
She was passionate about wildlife and regularly visited Yellowstone National Park. She was there in 1996 when the wolves were reintroduced and proceeded to visit each summer thereafter as an avid wolfwatcher.
She is remembered by those who love her as a woman with a ready smile, a quick wit, and a kind heart.
